So, there's a bit of vignetting on these photos, um especially at 2.8 on the widest.
That means the lens lets in nearly twice as much light as the 16 to 50 mm kit optic at its widest angles, and over four times more light when you're zoomed in, which makes it much easier to shoot with in dark conditions, easier to get out of focus backgrounds as well.
Um as far as vignetting, you know, this is as wide open at the wide end as the kit lens goes.
