But the hood being permanent also means that there's no filter thread on the front of this lens.
On the lens itself, you get your front and rear lens caps.
And this would be a great vlogging lens, I feel, or a really good video lens for a lot of people out there, but the only way you can use an ND filter is putting it in the back of the lens, and that means you have no control over it being a variable ND or not.
