Indicators & Methodology
Performance x Impact.

Our approach: building the evidence discourse
Askmaddi is a service platform designed to help you build and implement a sustainable responsible digital strategy.
It allows you to monitor and reduce the carbon impact of your digital services over time by identifying the levers of optimisation which are also those of performance.
Askmaddi currently offers an approach focused on the co-responsibility points that are websites. The platform will soon be able to be deployed on your applications as well.
This is a first step on the very specific theme of usage which, as we know, represents only a part of the digital pollution.
However, it is an area that we consider to be key.
We are indeed convinced that the carbon footprint of digital services will become a real criterion of brand preference for consumers of digital services.
In this perspective, Askmaddi assists you today in building the discourse of proof: the materialization of your efforts in the long term to reduce your impact, improve your quality of service and differentiate yourself.

Performance indicators
The functional index proposed by Askmaddi as part of the analysis of the performance of your pages is a transparent proprietary reference.
Presented in the form of a score from A to E (E being the worst rating), it is established on the basis of a multi-layer analysis of 4 determining axes: page weight, mobile compatibility, desktop compatibility and accessibility.
During the analysis, each of these axes is subject to desynchronised unit processing in a uniform and regular test environment.
The data is retrieved and processed directly through our tool, using a number of established third-party services such as those offered by Google, Lighthouse and IBM Equal Accessibility Checker, for example, to check compliance with the WCAG international accessibility standards. The recovered data are then compared and weighted using additional data recovered from public databases (Open data).
The entire data processing protocol results in a score out of 5 for each of the 4 determining axes, then in an overall score (functional index) interpreted from A to E for greater readability.
In addition to the functional index, all the scoring proposed by the platform is presented opposite sectoral scoring carried out and regularly updated through our ACT Observatory.

Impact indicators
The GHG footprints presented by the platform are based on the recommendations of the Shift Project.
The Shift Project is a think tank created in 2010 that works towards a carbon-free economy. The Shift Project is a non-profit organisation guided by scientific rigour whose mission is to inform and influence the debate on energy transition in Europe. Its members include SNCF, EDF, Bouygues, Saint Gobain, SPIE, Vinci, etc.
This think tank has distinguished itself, among other things, by its advocacy of Digital Sobriety based on a model for measuring the carbon emissions of the digital sector which is now a reference: the 1-byte model.
This is a top-down model, which starts from the total emissions of the digital sector to deduce an emission factor based on the amount of data (kB) exchanged on the network and the time spent consuming it on the terminals.
