Short, and honest about what leaves your browser.
The short version: To find live listings, your search is sent to our server and on to the retailers' product feeds — that's how any product search works. We don't attach it to you: no accounts, no cookies, no cross-site tracking, no profiles, and we never sell data. Our review cards are pre-built pages, so viewing one is just an ordinary page request.
Search: When you search, your query is sent to our server, which queries the official product APIs of eBay and Adorama to pull live listings, then ranks them for precision (collapsing duplicates, holding the exact variant). Fetching live prices and stock is impossible without contacting the retailers, so — like any search tool — your query does leave your browser. We don't attach it to an account, a cookie, or a profile.
Anonymous analytics: We keep a first-party count of a few product events — an outbound click to a retailer, or an arrival from an AI assistant — recording only a broad category and retailer/engine name. This is enforced in code to exclude your query text, IP, email, or any user identifier. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no third-party trackers, no advertising cookies.
Review comparison cards: Our cards are pre-built pages generated ahead of time from publicly available reviews, linking back to their sources. They're served like any ordinary web page — viewing one is a normal page request and isn't tied to you.
Our web server keeps standard access logs, which — like every web server — include the IP address, timestamp, and the request line. Because a search is an ordinary web request, the request line for a search does contain the query text. These logs are used only for security, rate-limiting, and keeping the service running; they are not used to profile you, are not tied to an identity, and are not shared with third parties or advertisers.
If you subscribe to our new-cards email, we store your email address for that one purpose. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email, and we keep a suppression record so we honor it.
We're affiliate-supported: when you click through to a retailer (eBay, Adorama, Amazon) and buy, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, and we disclose it on every page. The retailer knows you arrived from AskMaddi and may set its own cookies or tracking under its own privacy policy — that part is out of our hands. The commission is the same whichever product you buy, so it never shapes what a card says or how results rank.
When you click through to a retailer (such as eBay, Adorama, or Amazon), you're subject to their privacy policies. We have no control over their data practices.
AskMaddi is a general-purpose product research tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
If we change this policy, we'll update this page. Our approach is to collect as little as the service allows and to be plain about what that is.
